Coexistence and Integration are often used interchangeably. But, are they really synonymous? Coexistence is a state in which two or more groups are living together. Integration is the blending of two cultures beyond the cuisines and celebration of international weeks. I often look at the number of mixed couples in a city as an index of integration. Even in the liberal west, except a few big cities, miscegenation is a rarity. Brown prefer browns, blacks prefer blacks etc. etc.
Are we so keen on preservation of our respective cultures? Like the blending of free sources codes (i do not hate windows
) have helped computers, the blending of different cultures, I feel, would be beneficial to societies. Just as the Indo-Chinese cuisine (Indian bastardization of Chinese cuisine
) is amongst the most popular cuisines in India and few cities in the US, an Indo-Chinese kid would perhaps be the best bargain-hunter Best Buy has ever seen.

It’s not only about skin color, A lot of immigrants from ‘white’ europe still like to marry their own ‘white’ instead the American ‘white’.
In India it doesn’t help that you have to go to court if you kiss a ‘brown’ person in public.. (BBC – Richard Gere cleared of obscenity)

Were you there when that pompous ass Wolfram gave the talk at …..? He started a 2d field (1/2 white and 1/2 black) randomly distributed. He gave them a singular rule: try to have at least one neighbor that was of the same color. At each step the particles were allowed to move one space as long as the rule above was not broken. He let the system go for a while until it came to steady-state. The result: low and behold the final steady state had most of the black on one side and most of the white on the other. There was a little miscegenation at the interface.
Of course race relations are pretty complex, but even if one just wants one person near them of a similar race the simple model above would suggest that the natural state is a segregated one.
It’s a shame for those of us from one race who prefer to branch out.
